“Bid” and “Ask,” and How Your Stock Gets Bought and Sold
There are two types of prices in stock trading, Bid and Ask. Here’s what each of these terms mean:
- The Bid price is the price on the FINRA computerized trading system that a market maker, broker/dealer or other prospective buyer is prepared to pay for your company’s stock.
- The Ask price is the best quoted price on the FINRA computerized trading system at which a market maker, broker/dealer or other prospective buyer is willing to sell your company’s stock.
